Dr. Abdulaziz Sager,
Chairman of the Gulf Research Center, participated as speaker in the virtual
event 'The role of think tanks in the foreign policy-making process' organized
by The British International Studies Association (BISA) .

Research Center participated in the meeting in its current capacity as the
co-chair of Major Groups Facilitating Committee (MGFC) representing the Science
and Technology Major Group of UN Environment.
As part of the meeting, Dr. Raouf co-organized and co-chaired the following dialogue sessions:
- with UNEP Executive Director Mr. Inger Anderson on Feb 21st
- with H.E. Espen Barth Eide, Minister of Environment and Climate of Norway, President of UN Environment Assembly 5.2 on Feb 25th
- the Major Groups Press Conference on Feb 25th
The Munich Security Conference is the world's leading forum for debating international security policy. It is a venue for diplomatic initiatives to address the world's most pressing security concerns.
Dr. Christian Koch, Director of Research, took part in an Expert Roundtable on “EU-Gulf Relations” organized by the European Union Institute for Security Studies (EUISS) along with the European External Action Service(EEAS) Policy Planning and Strategic Foresight division (SG.STRAT.3) as well as EEAS’s Middle East division. The European Union is planning a joint communication on Eu-Gulf relations for later in the spring and the roundtable is part of preparation for this roundtable.
Dr. Christian Koch also spoke at an event organized by the UK’s Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office on the GCC as an institution focusing on the GCC’s external engagement with third countries/other regional organisations, the balance between multilateral and bilateral in member states’ international relations, as well as the impact of the intra-GCC dispute and other intra-GCC tensions on likely future prospects. More than 50 persons from across different government departments of the UK dealing with the Gulf region took part in the event.
